[Limited Time only] — Bank of Baroda is offering Lifetime Free credit cards that are truely lifetime free, that means without any waiver off conditions or annual minimum spend requirements.
NOTE — I don’t know how long this offer is going to be there or even if it is there when you read this story, so do your own research and take my experience with a grain of salt. This is not a financial advice.
With that out of the way, let me share my experience about this and what made me apply for this Credit Card and which one I applied because there are different types of cards that are being offered as Litetime Free.

So I was casually browsing through news one night when I came across an article saying Bank of Baroda is reducing the benefits and rewards offered by their credit cards which is not very common as banks try to be competitive and try to maximise rewards so I went and read it. It mentioned that the benefit reduction was after the bank launched the offer of Litefime Free credit cards. Wait, Lifetime Free? Now that’s interesting. A quick google search resulted in some more articles about the bank reducing the benefits and very few of them covering the launch of this offer. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get to know about this offer earlier as this was launched in First week of August.

But anyway, it’s Lifetime Free and I wanted to check whether the offer is still applicable or not. I checked a couple of comments on those articles and found that people are still getting the Lifetime free offer so I decided to open the official website of the bank and check for myself. TBH, the website is kind of slow and sometimes doesn’t work so it took me a couple of refreshes to reach this page and there it was, the beautiful banner at the top, saying that the bank is offering Lifetime free Credit Cards.

Lifetime Free offer on the Card Detail Page

I was hyped, I checked more and it seemed to be lifetime free in the card variant details as well. I found there were three variants available for this offer. Easy, Select and Premier. Easy card is a very basic card offering just fuel surcharge wavier. Similar with the Select variant of the Credit Card as well. However, the Premier variant of the card had more features including 1 complimentary visit to airport lounge every quarter. Honestly, all of this doesn’t matter to me as I already have a lot of cards which give me Airport and Railway Lounge access both Domestic and International but if they are offering it for free then why not take the higher tier one. Doing some research, I found that the Premier variant is the higher tier of the three cards, (as the name suggests, obviously!).

The application process was pretty straight forward, I filled my basic details, confirmed the OTP, filled employment details and then they suggested some cards which I might be eligible for based on my input. (I think mainly the salary and age). But on that page as well, I was able to confirm that the Lifetime Free offer is there and being offered by the bank. Although I was eligible for the Eterna variant as well but due to the ban on Mastercard by RBI, the bank is not offering that variant.

Lifetime Free offer being shown in the Credit Card selection screen

After I selected this variant, I confirmed the details and did Aadhar OTP based verification of the application form and submitted it. The primary reason to apply for this card was that it was Lifetime Free. I mean, I don’t have to pay anything or reach the minimum spend threshold to get the fees reversed. I don’t need any benefits or anything, just a good credit limit to increase my total credit line and further lower my credit utilization ratio and increase the number of on-time payments by 1 every month. I will probably be using this Credit Card for 1–2 transactions a month to avoid any sort of inactivity on the card and not make it my primary driver as I have other cards in my portfolio that offer me better reward percentage.

So, that was it. I am yet to recieve an update on my application and I think it might take upto 2 weeks to get the application processed so let’s see 🤷🏻‍♂️. Bank of Baroda generally doesn’t offer any Lifetime Free Credit Cards for Salaried Employees without any collateral like an Fixed Deposit, so this offer was a good find for me.
